About Riley: Lead vocalist. A necessary leader. And a pawn in someone else's game. Riley is an incorrigible dreamer for whom music is equal to air. He lives and breathes for performing, and he enjoys every moment. Glory? Money? Awards? Popularity? None of this matters to him. The only thing he wants is to share his music with whole world. Riley hates drama, he sincerely believes that a real musician speaks with their lyrics, and not through tabloid headlines. Is it a naïve view? Certainly. But he has always been like this: simple, kind, positive, sensitive, caring. Trying to find good in everything and never gives up. A peacemaker.

But who could have thought that a huge weight of responsibility suddenly will fall upon his shoulders. He must not only survive among the drama and protect his group, but also cope with the whirlpool of feelings and trying not to drown. It doesn't help that his ex-boyfriend is nearby; the most handsome man works as a group manager; a sweet drummer gives a feeling of devotion; the charming father of a faithful fan doesn't leave the thoughts; and even a man who crushing the entire world of music looks so ardently, but for some reason with sadness at the same time. Ley ended up in the center of not only a showbiz, but also a heartfelt drama.

But he will try. He will attempt. He will work hard and slowly figure everything out. He will do everything to remind everyone what musicians really live for. With his lyrics, voice, music, teamwork he will prove that love for creativity is an honest victory. For the sake of his group, for the sake of the fans and for the sake of justice.

He will remind of inspiration fire that barely smolder inside even in the most tired from the world of show business heart.

I love word plays so much — The Creek - Crickets / MError - Me & Error get it? Yes? Yes??? Ehm don't mind me, I just wanted to say that the vibes of MC's group in my walkthrough remind me of Måneskin.

Also I'll take this opportunity to ask you to look at Palaye Royale, Starset, Citizen Soldier, Three Days Grace, One Ok Rock, Jon Dretto etc.

Death Or Glory - Palaye Royale [Reaction]

an interesting listen for sure

1. Death Or Glory — ahh a cancel culture song, okay but the chorus lowkey slaps. Really not a fan of the pronouns line ngl, I do wonder why they put that in considering their fanbase 0-0. I was semi-claiming this song but now I’m un-claiming this song, tho the guitar is fire

2. Hot Mess — definite BBR vibes, it was good but didn’t thrill me

3. Just My Type — now this I have been jamming since it came out, the album ver hits slightly less than the single ver (I think they tone down the drums?) but it’s a banger of a song nonetheless

4. Ache In My Heart — the fact I’m asexual but vibe to this song is funny, I just love the sound of this one

5. For You — okay, a little bit of a sound switch-up, I think this could totally belong on BBR side B, it kinda gives me Mrs Infamous vibes and I adore the musical break at the end

6. Dark Side of the Silver Spoon — I said before and I’ll say again this has major BBR Side A vibes, the instrumentals in this are addicting

7. Showbiz — straight out of the American Satan soundtrack, I find it kinda funny they’re doing an anti-industry song when they’ve always been on Sumerian as Palaye to my knowledge but it’s a great track

8. Mister Devil — immediate Massacre the New American Dream vibes, this was the song I claimed and it does not disappoint

9. Addicted to the Wicked and Twisted — I’m not a huge fan of most of the first verse lyrics being repeated twice in a row but the sound of this one is interesting

10. Self-Loathing Conversation — Palaye goes country?? This guitar line reminds me of another song but I cannot think what. I love the slower vibes of this one though, it makes it stand out in the album as well

11. Been Too Long — idk what it is but I just don’t vibe with this one, I think it just doesn’t have anything that stands out to me

12. Pretty Stranger — I like the build-up towards the chorus, the drums really carry this one, it’s catchy

Overall rating: 7/10

Favourite Single: Dark Side of the Silver Spoon

Favourite Non-Single: Mister Devil

Least favourite track: Been Too Long or Death Or Glory

Album Ranking: probably my least favourite 😭

Comments: the singles really carry this album for me since I think they stand out the most along with Self-Loathing Conversation and Mister Devil. I like that they brought some of the BBR sound back but otherwise a lot of the sound is kinda repetitive and there isn’t as much contrast between verse and chorus which is a personal thing but something I often look for in songs. There are definitely very repeated themes in the lyrics - namely drug use, the dark side of the music industry and messy breakups/relationships. None of these are exactly new to Palaye but it’s hard to really work out the message - it doesn’t feel as cathartic as Fever Dream, it’s not angry like The Bastards. It’s like the feelings are just there and not really dealt with or dived into and with the overall sound being quite the same it almost gives a sense of defeat, that this is the world and their lives and they can’t change it…or maybe I’m reading too much into it

Palaye Royale's New Album is AMAZING!

Sorry for dying for the last while, but... Now I have to catch up on fangirling- I'M OBSESSED WITH DEATH OR GLORY! I got the CD, and it's amazing! Love this new era!

My #1 favorite song rn is Dark Side of the Silver Spoon (Love the music video so much)! My other faves are For You, Ache in my Heart, Death or Glory, Showbiz, and Addicted to the Wicked & Twisted! I don't think a single track is a skip though tbh- I love them all!
